Gobi Desert : Very Large Desert in China and Mongolia

Gobi (Hanzi: 戈壁 (沙漠) pinyin: Gēbì (Shāmò); Languages Mongolia: Говь [Gowi]) is a very large desert region in the People’s Republic of China and southern Mongolia.

Basin desert of Gobi Altai Mountains and bordered by Mongolian grasslands in the north, by the Tibetan plateau in the southwest, and by the North China plain in the southeast. In Mongolian language, the word Gobi means “very large and dry”. Gobi consists of several geographic areas and ecologically unique, based on differences in climate and topography. This is the largest desert in Asia.

Gobi down in history as part of the Mongol Empire, and is the location of several important cities along the Silk Road.
